One dream. One team. One love.
Hurricane Melissa Relief
At 11 a.m. local time 10/28/25, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica — bringing catastrophic winds, flooding, and devastation across much of the island.
Thousands of families are expected to face severe losses to homes, crops, and infrastructure.
In response, Jamaican Americans for a Better Jamaica Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Worcester, Massachusetts, is launching its first-ever hurricane relief effort. For our organization, disaster relief is a direct extension of our core mission to alleviate the burden of poverty. Hurricanes disproportionately devastate the most vulnerable, often destroying the few assets and stable livelihoods that keep families afloat.
For years, we’ve worked with schools, churches, and communities in Kingston and Spanish Town to support youth education and development. Now, we’re standing with Jamaica once again — this time, in crisis. The recovery is going to be long, and we plan to be there every step of the way. As we say in Jamaica — “We likkle but we Tallawah,” meaning we are small but mighty. Transparency is of upmost importance for us through this process, and will keep donors updated along the way.
Here are some ways you can help:
1. Share link and donate thorough the official Jamaican Government Relief Website. Purchase/donate something from the needs list established by the Jamaican Government (we can facilitate getting it to where it needs to go if you are in MA). Order something directly from their Amazon List.
2. Share links and donate to support these wonderful organizations providing immediate and essential nationwide relief on the ground: Global Empowerment Mission or Food for the Poor.

3. Donate directly to our organization to help with getting needed items to western communities over the coming weeks, and to help with direct relief to families through the rebuilding process.
4. Purchase an item from our Amazon wish list. We will be shipping barrels over the coming weeks (targeting Westmoreland), and also utilizing drop points for shipment established by the Jamaican Embassy D.C.
